Journey to Swaziland, part 3

These were all taken outside of the women's prison in Swaziland. A group from Teen Challenge went to minister to the women, offering praise, sharing hope and and praying for healing.

Reunited!

Clever - our fearless Africa Revolution leader! He has a real gift of shepherding
his flock. Antje and I tried to recuit him for the JAR internship program,
but he was really committed to the work AR is doing right now :)

Our fun group. There is a mix of folks in this picture, some from
Africa RevolutionTeen Challenge and Potter's Wheel Church.

Being silly.  Charles, Jess, jruss and a friend from church.

Dwanye - one of the AR interns. What a smile!

Amanda - an incredible visionary from South African who helps with Agriculture on the farm.

Journey to Swaziland, part 2

This is the boarder we crossed to enter Swaziland. We were really
glad Clever was with us - he is a pro at going through immigration.

The three of us as we wait for our keys at Hawane Farm. The building behind
us is  CLC, or Christian Life Community. This church is described as ICBC,
or In Community, By Community, meaning the desire to be present in the
community and work together to meet the needs. This is the side of the farm where
Antje and I stayed. Jess and Liz are about a 10 minute walk down and across the street.

Liz is sharing some of her art work with us in her room. Her and Jess live on the farm in
a home called The Brown House, which is filled with volunteers from around the world.

Finding my name in Nashville

Spending the weekend with friends in Nashville!

Just like during my visit to DC, I'm hunting for the letters of my name in this city:

Journey to Swaziland, part 1

Antje and I really enjoyed our international adventure together! After going through nearly 2,500 images of our trip to South Africa and Swaziland, I have narrowed them down to share a glimpse of the incredible trip we took to visit Jess and Liz earlier this month. Enjoy this picture story, it will be told in multiple parts!

After arriving in Joburg, South Africa the night before, I enjoyed a lovely breakfast at our
cabin in Pretoria. We stayed in Pretoria for two days while the car was getting worked on.

ENJOY. The theme for our trip.

Liz and Jess share their weekly schedule with us at Wimpy Burger.

Liz, jruss and Clever dancing to the Cotton-eyed Joe.

Rand - South African currency. Notice the Big Five, and the different lengths of the bills.

Jess and Clever busting out some yummy peanut butter and
banana sandwiches at a  rest stop on our way to Swaziland

Peanut butter label: "Not suitable for nut allergy sufferers" :)

Liz teaching us how to use the bread slicer at Pick n Pay.

Dynamic Worship

My awesome roomie and fellow JAR intern performed during last night's Dynamic Worship night at Christ Our King Community Church. If you weren't able to make it, enjoy the performance below.

Spring Time

Lovely flowers on the bushes outside of our apartment.

A couple more days of spring time here in Raleigh. The weather has been quite cold again after that foretaste of summer.
